Kbshimmer 2013 Winter Collection - Swatches & Review

Press Sample

Hi all! I hope your week is going wonderfully! Anyone else way too excited to gorge themselves tomorrow?

I'm also very excited to put up the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving. I'm trying to hunt down some clear ornaments to make nail polish ornaments because Chelsea inspired me to try!

Today's post is filled with eleven absolutely stunning KBShimmer 2013 Winter Collection polishes!

Kbshimmer 2013 Winter Collection (2)

Kbshimmer All Elf'd Up
All Elf'd Up - Three coats.
Starts off a bit streaky but evens itself out.

"I love white polish with glitters, so to keep in theme with the season, I again brought out the classic red and green combination.  Hex glitters and micro slices add festive cheer to this polish.  Sliver glitters add a unique twist, almost appearing to be a metallic white.  Best in 3 coats or layered over white."

Kbshimmer Green Hex and Glam
Green Hex and Glam - Three coats.
Applies very smooth and even, glitter disperses nicely.

"Green Hex And Glam with Kayla from Kayla Shevonne was actually a custom polish for Kayla’s 3 year blogaversary, but I knew it would also be a perfect Christmas shade!  She wanted a green version on I Got A Crush On Blue.  I recreated that custom, with a deep green jelly base.  I then loaded that base with silver holographic hex glitters in sizes from micro to extra-large for an ultra-sparkly polish.  Best in 3 coats."

Kbshimmer I Only Have Ice For You
I Only Have Ice For You - One coat over Cult Nails Wack Slacks.
The formula and application were perfection!

I Only Have Ice For You with Sarah from Chalkboard Nails
"Living in Arizona, Sarah from Chalkboard Nails does not see much snow, so this snow inspired polish will have to do!  Shimmering white flakes are set in a clear base.  Holographic glitters in small sizes mimic the sparkle you get from snow.  Layer this topper over any color to add sparkle and shimmer."

Kbshimmer Maybe Navy (1) Kbshimmer Maybe Navy (2)
Maybe Navy - Three thin coats.
The formula was perfect, applied smoothly and evenly.

"I cannot help but love blue, so when I set out to create winter polishes, a shimmering navy  had to be in the cards.
This deep blue polish is filled with shimmering flakes, that in the light add a purple tone to the polish and sometimes
bring a pink shimmer.  Best in 2-3 coats, this polish can also be layered for different looks."

Kbshimmer Pigment Of My Imagination
Pigment Of My Imagination - Four thin coats.

"This multi-chrome polish shifts depending on the angle and the light, from blue, to purple, to red, and more.  I most often see a beautiful indigo purple color. Best in 3 coats, or 1 coat over black, this polish is one you will have to see to believe!"

Kbshimmer Plum Tuckered out
Plum Tuckered Out – Three coats.
Application is nice and smooth, started off a little streaky but evens out perfectly.
Plum Tuckered Out with Sheila from Pointless Café
"Rich, warm colors are always winter favorite, so I was very excited to create this plum inspired polish for Sheila.
This warm color has a rich base with blue undertones.  A blue shimmer really comes alive when the light hits the polish.  This polish covers well in two coats, and the tone deepens with 3 coats."
Kbshimmer Shade Shifter (2) Kbshimmer Shade Shifter (1)
Shade Shifter - Four thin coats.
"Shade Shifter is a multi-chrome that changes depending on light and angle from cyan, to blue, to red orange, to purple, and more.  I most often see a cyan blue shade. Best in 3 coats, or 1 coat over black, this polish is one you will have to see to believe!"
Kbshimmer Snow Much Fun
Snow Much Fun  – Three coats.
Applied very smoothly and the snowflake glitters were surprisingly easy to get out of the bottle.
Snow Much Fun with Victoria from The Manicurator.
"Victoria wanted a polish that represented the first snow, and what better way than with snowflake glitter!
This light blue jelly sparkles with light blue holo glitter, white glitters in several sizes and finishes, a sprinkling of micro holographic glitter, and of course, white snowflake glitter. Best in 3 coats or 2 coats over I’d Rather Be With Blue.
Please note, the snowflakes are large and a heavier glitter, and though I added a large amount, there might be some fishing required to get multiple flakes on each nail."
Kbshimmer Toast-ess With The Mostest (2) Kbshimmer Toast-ess With The Mostest (3) Kbshimmer Toast-ess With The Mostest (1)
Toast-ess With the Mostest - One coat over China Glaze Fifth Avenue and Zoya Audrey.
I sandwiched it with another coat of Audrey. It applies nice and dense but the glitters tend to bunch up and stick together.
Toast-ess With The Mostest with Valesha from Peachy Polish.
"Champagne goes hand in hand with so many winter celebrations, that it was no surprise that I was asked to capture the spirit of a glass of bubbly by Valesha from Peachy Polish.  This clear glitter topper is loaded with glitters in shades of gold, silver and pink.  Circle and hex glitters from micro to large give this polish is sparkling look."
Kbshimmer Urban Camo (1) Kbshimmer Urban Camo (2)
Urban Camo - Four thin coats.
"Urban Camo is a multi-chrome that shifts from a pretty pistachio green, to a bright green, to silver, to a soft pink almost lavender color depending on the light and viewing angle. Best in 3 coats, or 1 coat over black, this polish is one you will have to see to believe!"
Kbshimmer When Doves Sigh
When Doves Sigh - Two coats.
Goes on perfect! Glitter dispersion is great. I recommend a second coat of topcoat.
I think it would have looked better if I used a second one.

"I love to bundle up in the winter.  I have a fondness for grey wool sweaters and fuzzy pink socks, both which help inspire this polish.  A warm gray color, this creally is filled with fuchsia circles, square and hex glitters.  Turquoise, sapphire, and chrome hexes, micro slices and circles swim among micro holographic sparkles."
______________________________________________________
I wrote about most of the polishes individually above, exempting the multichromes.
All of the duo/multichromes applied amazingly but they were a bit sheer, you can layer them or wear them on their own.
I used four thin coats for my swatches but I know I do thin coats so I think you could get away with three pretty easily.
But the formula is thinner so even at four coats there was no "bulking up" on my nails at all.

Christy really did an
amazing job with the Winter collections this year! I was instantly excited when I saw these!
I can't wait to pick up the rest of them when I can. So many amazing polishes and so many amazing bloggers.

I'm not even sure I can tell you my favorites of these.. I LOVE them all.
Toast-ess With The Mostest instantly popped out to me and from the swatches I've seen it's gorgeous over every color!

This collection is available at https://www.kbshimmer.com/ and Harlow & Co.
